Southeast Asia and the South Pacific
Trip Between January and March, 2015

(The following pages were recreated from notes that I took while I was on the trip.)

This was my eighth trip to Thailand, sixth trip to The Philippines, and second trip to
Cambodia.   Some highlights, and lowlights of the trip were (in no particular order) --

  1. I was able to spent time in Pattaya with my friend from Leeds, England who I have
    known for about six years
  2. My friend and I did sightseeing around Cebu's port/waterfront area
  3. I signed the "Get Well Soon" book for the king of Thailand
  4. I went to Chiang Rai for the first time
  5. I went to Myanmar for the first time
  6. I saw a friend in The Philippines for the first time in several years
  7. I went to Siem Reap for the first time, seeing Angkor Wat, Angkor Tom/Thom, and
    several other millenium-old temples
  8. The first hotel in Pattaya was not "pretty"
  9. I wasn't able to visit the royal palace in Cha-am
  10. I lost one of my ATM cards in Hua Hin
  11. I accidentally bought concentrated orange juice from a grocery store in The
Philippines; wow, was it sweet, rich, and thick!
  12. I left my earplugs in the U.S.; I'm a very light sleeper and usually need them
  13. One time, it took two hours to both get checked in and get through immigration at
    Suvarnabhumi Airport
  14. The Rajah Park Hotel in Cebu is very old, didn't provide basic necessities, and not
recommended, even though it is conveniently located
  15. Cebu Pacific Airlines wouldn't let me carry my carry-on bag on during my return
flight even though they let me carry it on during the previous flight
  16. My Globe SIM card in The Philippines didn't have as good of connectivity as
Smart SIM cards; couldn't readily contact anyone, or be readily contacted by
anyone, within my hotel in Angeles City
  17. After ordering a rum-and-coke, I first got a Coke; after restating what I wanted,
she took the Coke and returned with a shot of rum; after re-restating what I
wanted, she returned with what I wanted -- a rum-and-coke
  18. During the flight from Manila to Bangkok on February 24th, the person sitting
behind me was 6 foot 5 inches or taller and had his knees in my back during the
    entire flight
  19. My laptop died; fortunately, I had backed up all of my files to a flash/pen/thumb
    drive
  20. I broke the screen on my Samsung Galaxy III smart phone
  21. I lost a pair of shorts
  22. I lost a shirt
  23. I lost the felt case for my sunglasses
  24. The flight from Bangkok to Taipei was delayed to the point where I had to rush
from that plane's arrival to my connecting flight's departure to Los Angeles
  25. My friend and his wife didn't reserve a vehicle large enough for the drive from
Los Angeles to San Diego; it took five hours to complete the drive including a
1-hour and 10-minute road construction delay on I-5 between the cities
National/International Crisis
This time, nothing happened.   Amazing!

As I have mentioned on other pages that I have created on my Web site, I discovered
that my friends and family who use AOL's software are not able to access the pages if
they contain pictures.   With that in mind, I have created 2 set of pages here.   One
contains pictures and the other contains text.   Sorry for the inconvenience.
