Fish Jumping During Mid-Morning: On the first afternoon (July 26th), I caught 3 fish and had 4 hits which I missed. It was such a dramatic change from the city hustling and bustling that I actually counted how many airplanes passed overhead -- nine. There was an afternoon rainstorm that started at about 2:30 and lasted for 30 minutes.
Avalanche Area: (Several years ago, a lot of snow fell. It created an avalanche, wiping out all of the pine trees beneath it. As a result, the area directly beneath it is now filled in with Aspen trees. It's breath-taking.
Snowbank In Distance: On the second day, a man showed up in the late morning and was flyfishing from the shore. It's difficult to do since trees hug the shoreline near everywhere around the lake. Nevertheless, he was able to catch 3 keepers. The rain started up at 12:40 and lasted for about one hour.
The Glacier: After the sun set, a strange, human-shaped cloud stretched over the glacier. At about 10pm, I was stirred awake by a rustling sound outside of my tent. I thought that a bear or mountain lion had come along and knocked my water jug off of the tree stump that I placed it on, causing it to roll along the ground. I stayed perfectly still, making sure to not make any noise and attract attention to myself. About one minute later, someone was shining a flashlight along the bottom of my tent. I remained quiet. Eventually, they left my campsite. At 2am, the rain woke me up.
Inlet Of Glacier Water: The rain started up again at 6:45am. I caught 8 fish. I found out that my "visitors" the night before was a man and his dog. He had gotten a late start and wasn't able to make it to the lake until after dark. As I fished that day, I watched large-looking storms pass by. This was good for me because the fish feed a lot during these conditions.
Reflections (#1): It began raining again at about 1:20 and continued on and off throughout the day until about 4:30. Upon going outside, I dropped my watch and it reset itself to midnight. I wasn't sure about the time after that. I know -- Who cares? I'm in the mountains and time doesn't matter!
Prime Fishing Time:
Reflections (#2): See you next year. I'll miss you, my friend!
